DUBAI - Dubai and Abu Dhabi police authorities have issued a stern warning to drivers, cautioning against allowing passengers to protrude their heads out of car windows or sunroofs while the vehicle is in motion. Violators of this rule could face substantial fines of up to 2000 dirhams.
Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the Director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police General Headquarters, emphasized the grave dangers associated with such reckless behavior. Not only does it pose a significant risk to the individuals involved, but it also endangers the lives of other road users.
Al Mazrouei reiterated the strict enforcement of the Federal Traffic Law in dealing with offenders. According to the law, those found guilty will face severe penalties, including the impoundment of their vehicles for a period of 60 days, fines amounting to 2000 dirhams, and the accumulation of 23 black points on their driving license.
Moreover, the cost of reclaiming impounded vehicles could soar to as high as 50,000 dirhams.
The warning comes as authorities aim to crack down on dangerous driving practices and enhance road safety across the Emirates.
Last year alone, Dubai recorded a staggering 1183 violations related to reckless driving behavior, resulting in the impoundment of 707 vehicles.
With this latest directive, authorities are urging both drivers and passengers to adhere strictly to road safety regulations and avoid engaging in any behavior that could jeopardize their safety and that of others on the road. The message is clear: reckless driving will not be tolerated, and those found in violation will face the full force of the law.
