Rumors of Specs and Release Date for Samsung Galaxy S9.

There’s no arguing the fact that the Galaxy S8 is still one of the best-looking phones on the market. Its Quad HD AMOLED Infinity Display is exquisite, its camera takes excellent photos, and even Samsung’s software is now even more enjoyable. All of the greatness found with the S8 has put a lot of pressure and expectations on the S9 although it probably won’t be a big upgrade as expected; it still is likely to be one of the best phones of 2018.

A CAD render of the Galaxy S9 reveals what will most likely be the absolute look for the device, and it’s not a big change from the S8. The S9 will have extremely tiny bezels around its display with a metal frame and glass back; however, there is a change in the location of the fingerprint sensor.

Samsung’s reasoning for putting the fingerprint sensor on the S8 where it did, remains unclear, but with the S9, it will be placed right below the camera lens. In other words, unlocking a Samsung phone with your finger has been made easier.

On the Infinity Display, the S9 is expected to make it even more impressive than it already is on the S8. The screen-to-body ratio of the Galaxy S8+ is still a thing of beauty at 84-percent, but according to a tip received from SamMobile, the S9+ will move it up with a screen-to-body ratio of 90-percent. This six-percent increase will theoretically result in a virtually nonexistent bezel for the S9’s chin and a top bezel that’s even smaller than the bottom one found on the S8.

Before its announcement on April 21, the Galaxy S8 passed through the FCC in the U.S. in early March. All phones get certified by the FCC about a month or two before they’re unveiled, and this can be used as a way to determine when an official announcement is coming.

The Galaxy S9 made it to FCC’s doorstep on the 27th of December, and this is a strong indicator that we’ll see the phone announced in either late January or early February. Also, a list showing all the Snapdragon 845-powered phones indicates that the S9/S9+ are slated for a February launch as well. This is mostly speculation, and we will be surprised if wait until March or April to get Samsung’s latest.

Some of the improvements to be expected are 512GB of storage, both S9 and S9+ have Iris scanning improvements to take on Face ID, only the S9+ will get dual rear-cameras, and the S9 will have battery capacity of 3, 200 mAh unlike the S8 that has 3, 000 mAh.
