Alleged post of Stonebwoy saying he wanted to be like Shatta Wale pops up (Photo)

A Facebook post of how Stonebwoy had aimed to be like Shatta Wale has popped up - Stonebwoy made the post in 2006, saying he wanted to be like Bandana when he grows up - Shatta Wale was known as Bandana in those days when Stonebwoy had not started professional music yet YEN.com.gh has caught sight of a post allegedly made by Stonebwoy in which he wrote that he wanted to be like Shatta Wale when he grows up. The post was made on January 7, 2006, during those times Shatta Wale was known as Bandana. It was dropped by a YEN.com.gh’s fan on Facebook by name Emmanuel Quarshie. With his post, it could be said that Stonebwoy was then nurturing the desire to become a musician, so he looked up to become like Shatta Wale who was then making massive waves in his career. During those times, the likes of Sarkodie were not known, only Shatta Wale, Samini, 4X4, Tinny, Praye, just to mention a few. The Facebook post which had the user name Livingstone Etse Satekla Stonebwoy, read: “I want to be like Bandana when I grow up. Up up up Bandana from Ghana!!!!”.

The post made it clear that Stonebwoy was then hailing Shatta Wale as his music father, however, today, they seem to be music enemies. His post brings to mind complaints by Shatta Wale that Stonebwoy had come to him when he was not yet a musician asking him Shatta Wale to help him. Shatta Wale revealed in interviews monitored by YEN.com.gh that he had helped Stonebwoy when he “ran” to him as an underground musician. He lamented that now that Stonebwoy has become popular, he was disregarding him and giving recognition to those who did not deserve it. Stonebwoy, now claims to be lyrically and musically better than Shatta Wale, and also claiming superiority over the self-proclaiming dancehall king. They fought at the 2019 VGMA when Stonebwoy pulled out a gun to attack Shatta Wale when he stormed the stage uninvited at a time Stonebwoy was speaking. The two are currently going to court over the incident, and have been fined GHC50,000 each and granted bail.
