Early Life and Education:Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was born on March 29, 1944, in Swalaba, Accra, Gold Coast (now Ghana).

He comes from a prominent Ghanaian family; his father, Edward Akufo-Addo, was a Chief Justice and later became the President of Ghana.


Legal Career:Akufo-Addo pursued law and obtained a law degree from the University of Ghana and later studied at the Inns of Court School of Law in London.

He worked as a lawyer in France and later established his own law firm in Ghana.


Political Career:Akufo-Addo entered politics in the late 1970s and has been an influential figure in Ghanaian politics ever since.

He served in various capacities, including Attorney General and Minister of Justice, under the government of President John Agyekum Kufuor (2001–2009).


Presidential Aspirations:Akufo-Addo first ran for the presidency in 2008 as the candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but narrowly lost to the then-candidate John Atta Mills.

He contested again in 2012 but was unsuccessful. However, in 2016, he secured the NPP's nomination for the third time.


Presidency:Akufo-Addo won the 2016 presidential election, defeating the incumbent John Dramani Mahama.

He was inaugurated as the President of Ghana on January 7, 2017.
