Dubai is set to introduce AI-powered robots for beach patrol to monitor the violations of scooter and bicycle riders.
The robots, developed through a collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and TESLAR, will be deployed to oversee the beaches for any infractions committed by scooter and bicycle riders.
The memorandum of understanding signing ceremony was attended by the director of RTA, witnessing the collaboration between the two entities, with TESLAR's Chief Scientist, Shao Ling, present at the event.
Reportedly, some of the violations include unauthorized entry into pedestrian areas, failure to wear helmets, and improper placement of scooters in unauthorized zones leading to large gatherings.
These AI-powered robots will be operational round the clock, capable of autonomously detecting violations within a 2-kilometer radius and sharing information with authorities within 5 seconds, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 85%.
Starting from March 2024, these intelligent robots will undergo a trial run at Jumeirah 3 Beach area. They are designed to operate efficiently under various weather conditions and will automatically halt within 1.5 meters of any object or individual to ensure the safety of beachgoers.
