According to the Palestinian News Agency (PNA), in the early hours of the 12th local time, the Israeli army launched a full range of air, sea and land strikes against the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah and surrounding areas, which has resulted in the death toll of more than 100 people, and hundreds of others were injured, including women and children.
The report said that the Israeli army launched at least 40 heavy strikes on the city center of Rafah on the same day, targeting mainly homes and mosques.
At the time of the attack, these places were inhabited by a large number of homeless people who fled from the northern Gaza Strip. Rafah local hospitals are now crowded with the injured, many of whom are in extremely serious condition, the death toll may rise further.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on the 9th that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the Defense Forces and security services to submit to the wartime Cabinet on the withdrawal of Gaza residents from Rafah, clear the area of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) armed men's plan. The Hamas Media Office responded in a statement on 10 October that at least 1.4 million Palestinians currently reside in Rafah, and that a large-scale Israeli military operation against Rafah could result in "tens of thousands of deaths and injuries".
