A Dubai Mobile Store Owner Robbed of 660,000 Dirhams by Five Asian Men, One of Whom Was His Employee
A gang of five Asian men robbed a mobile store owner of 660,000 dirhams, assaulted him, and restrained his movements.
The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced three of them to three years in prison, to be followed by deportation upon completion of their sentences, while the other two fugitive members of the gang were sentenced in absentia to the same penalty. The court also ordered all the convicts to pay a fine collectively.
The first defendant admitted to planning the robbery with others. He claimed that the store owner kept the money in a safe at his home. On the day of the incident, he conspired with the other defendants to commit the crime.
The first defendant stated that he visited the store owner to ensure that there were no other people inside the house. Then, he opened the door for the other defendants, who were waiting for WhatsApp messages, to enter the apartment. Upon reaching the apartment, they attacked the store owner, forced him to open the safe, and stole 660,000 dirhams.
