Myanmar - 11 Individuals Escape from Scamming Camp in Myanmar, Only 6 Rescued

(Kuala Lumpur, 15th) Eleven Malaysian individuals lured to Myanmar's Myawaddy were planning to escape on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, but ultimately only six Chinese and Indian men were rescued, while three men and two women were recaptured by the scamming group, a situation of grave concern!

Mr. Wong, a Malaysian businessman based in Thailand (known as Thailand's Crossing Dragon), revealed to "China Press" that he received a distress call from the escapees around 1 a.m. on the 15th. After obtaining approximate coordinates, he immediately contacted the Thai military to assist them.

He said that according to the victims, originally a total of 11 individuals planned to flee the camp together on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. To avoid attracting the attention of the scamming group, they chose to escape in the early hours of the morning, wearing simple clothing and slippers, from the East Mei camp in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

"If they wore closed shoes and thick clothing, they (the scamming group) would easily notice them, but wearing slippers, they crossed the river and jungle in the dark, also very susceptible to being scratched by mud and branches."

Mr. Wong said he could feel the tense atmosphere of the escapees on the other end of the phone, their slippers were also damaged, and even though their feet were bleeding, they continued to run away.

He didn't dare to delay and immediately contacted the Thai military to assist in the rescue.

He said that currently only six Chinese and Indian men survived the escape and were eventually found by the Thai military, but the remaining three men and two women were estimated to have been recaptured by the scamming group, a situation of grave concern.

"The six men are aged between 20 and 35, two each from Selangor and Johor, and one each from Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak."

Mr. Wong said that these six individuals do not have passports and are currently under the jurisdiction of the Thai police. They will be brought to court in two days to face fines for overstaying.
