Sixteen (16) teachers from the Ghana Education Service (GES) have been arrested for their alleged involvement in examination malpractice.
The teachers were arrested during the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Unlike previous years, WAEC is willing on setting these 16 teachers as examples by sending them to court should they be found culpable after investigations. However, those arrested will not invigilate any WAEC conducted examinations again.
"The GES and WAEC are working together to ensure the smooth conduct of the BECE," said a spokesperson for the GES. "We will not tolerate any form of examination malpractice, and those found guilty will be dealt with accordingly."
