According to India Today, on the morning of the 21st, five Indians serving 18 years in Dubai returned to their hometown of Telangana, where they had been away for a long time.
Their families were waiting at the Hyderabad airport early in the morning, and after seeing their long-lost relatives, they embraced and shed tears of excitement.
It may seem like a touching reunion, but after learning about the reasons behind the "uprooting" of the five Indians, the reunion seemed less touching.
The five Indians are Shivarathri Mallesh, Shivarathri Ravi, Gollem Nampally, Dundugula Laxman and Shivarathri Hanmanthu, all of whom hail from Rajanna Sircilla district in Telangana. , who had earlier traveled to Dubai in pairs for work, were prosecuted and jailed for the alleged killing of a Nepali in Dubai.
After filing an appeal, they were sentenced to 25 years in prison. Under Dubai law, it is possible for them to have their sentences reduced or even be released if they receive forgiveness from the family of the deceased.
The release of these men was possible only because of the efforts of KT Rama Rao, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajana Silsila district, who took the initiative to visit the families of the deceased in Nepal in 2011 and presented them with a cheque worth Rs 1.5 lakh (about Rs 130,000)," he said.
Last year, KT Rama Rao wanted the UAE government to approve the five men's mercy petition and met senior officials in Dubai on the case. Finally, all five were set free after the Dubai court granted them pardon.
He also arranged air tickets for the five to return home.
PS: GET! You can be released from jail if you get forgiveness from your family for murder!
