Sharjah Police Seize Drugs Worth Over 115 Million Dirhams in 2023


In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking activities, the Sharjah Police have successfully intercepted drugs valued at over 1.153 billion dirhams ($314 million) in 2023. This substantial seizure shows the emirate's unwavering commitment to combatting the illicit drug trade.

According to official police reports, drug seizures in Sharjah saw a notable increase of 24% compared to the previous year. The total amount of drugs confiscated surpassed 1.1 tons, with a significant portion consisting of approximately 4.5 million Captagon pills, a potent stimulant often associated with illegal drug trade activities.

In addition to the substantial drug seizures, the Sharjah Police took proactive measures to disrupt drug trafficking operations. By shutting down 1003 websites linked to drug promotion, law enforcement authorities successfully thwarted over 600 attempts to smuggle drugs into the emirate.

The decisive actions taken by the Sharjah Police reflect the emirate's firm stance against drug-related crimes and its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its residents. Such efforts play a crucial role in safeguarding communities and preserving the integrity of the region.
