SHARJAH FIRE : Two dead in Sharjah building fire identified, one just married in February
Two of the victims of a fire that broke out in a residential building in the Al Nahda area of Sharjah on Thursday night, killing five people and injuring 44, have been identified, both of them Indian nationals.
Michael Sathyadass, one of the two deceased, was an employee of DXB Live at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC). According to his brother's social media post, Michael Sathyadass was a sound engineer who had contributed to concerts by renowned artists like Bruno Mars and AR Rahman during his career.
The second deceased is a 29-year-old woman from Mumbai, whose husband is still in hospital. A friend of the woman confirmed that the husband of the deceased is in a critical condition.
It is understood that the deceased and her husband were a newly married couple. They were married in February this year in Medina. After the marriage, they moved into the building where the accident took place and lived there.
The family of the deceased has now arrived in the UAE. Her father arrived on Saturday and is waiting for the formalities. Her husband's brother has also arrived in the UAE and has been accompanying her in the hospital.
According to social worker Ashraf Thamarassery, the deceased is expected to be buried in the UAE after completing the formalities.
