In the heart of Al Ain, nestled within his family's farm, 9-year-old Musleh Saeed Al-Eryani spends his idle moments pursuing a passion that sets him apart - organic agriculture. From the tender age when most children are still discovering their interests, Musleh has been tending to an array of vibrant green vegetables, cultivating a legacy that defies his young years.
Musleh's interest in agriculture began at the age of three and a half. He would collect leaves and plants, observing them grow in water containers, creating his own little hydroponic garden. Now, he tends to a variety of crops every day, including watercress, parsley, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, eggplants, and cauliflower.
After completing his studies each day, Musleh goes to the farm to water it and pick ripe fruits or vegetables to share with family and neighbors. "I love harvesting the fruits of my hard work and sharing the vegetables I grow with people."
There are setbacks too. "Sometimes plants don't grow, or they grow but can't be eaten for various reasons. But I keep trying until I succeed. Agriculture teaches you patience."
Musleh aspires to contribute to UAE's food security by managing large agricultural enterprises. With his father providing the initial land and seeds, and with his father's support, he has already begun envisioning ambitious new agricultural projects, focusing on growing rare imported crops.
"I want to become an agricultural expert, managing the largest vegetable and fruit farms."
Musleh's farm not only provides a steady supply of vegetables for his family but also nurtures his resilient spirit.
"It teaches me perseverance, working hard until I reap the rewards. At my age, seeing my crops constantly yielding gives me a great sense of achievement."
