Airfares to drop by 60-70% in UAE after holidays

UAE residents planning to vacation after the Eid holidays can expect fares to major vacation destinations, including European and Indian destinations, to drop by at least 60 to 70 percent.

Travel agents told Gulf News that UAE residents are well positioned to take advantage of this short window of time to travel at affordable prices before the summer rush and high fares begin.

Airfares are expected to remain stable until mid-June following the summer vacation.

After a sharp increase in the run-up to the Eid holidays, airfares on high-traffic routes such as India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and some Eastern European destinations are beginning to see a serious drop. However, fares to the UK, the US and some Western European destinations remained in the Dh4,000 to Dh6,000 range and rose further over the summer.

Travel agents say that even travelers planning to book last-minute flights can take advantage of the falling prices. Malou Prado, CEO of Dubai-based MPQ Travel, said:- "After April 15, long-haul routes from the UAE will experience the biggest drop in fares after the peak in travel demand for Eid.
