Dubai Customs revealed on Sunday that a female traveler from an African country was arrested at Dubai International Airport for attempting to smuggle drugs. She had cleverly hidden 4.25 kilograms of marijuana inside car air filters, which were concealed in a secret compartment in her luggage.
Khalid Ahmed, Acting Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, stated that the seizure demonstrated effective coordination among customs units and their ability to swiftly respond to and apprehend anyone attempting to smuggle or traffic prohibited or dangerous substances.
How She Was Caught
Ahmed explained, “During a routine shift, a Dubai Customs officer identified suspicious luggage on a flight from an African country. The customs officer alerted colleagues at a nearby checkpoint, who intercepted the owner of the luggage and conducted a manual inspection, uncovering the drugs.”
The woman's luggage underwent a "detailed inspection," revealing a hidden compartment. After a "thorough examination," the drugs were found. The traveler, along with the confiscated items, was then handed over to the Dubai Police’s General Department of Narcotics Control for legal action.
