The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a forthcoming amnesty program aimed at individuals overstaying their visas. The initiative provides an opportunity for those in violation of residency laws to regularize their status or depart the country without incurring further penalties.
In Abu Dhabi, overstayers can submit their applications at various ICP (Identity and Citizenship Protection) centers including those in Al Dhafra, Suwaihan, Al Maqam, and Al Shahama. Additionally, private typing centers approved by ICP are available to assist with administrative services related to the amnesty.
Dubai residents can apply for the amnesty at the Amer Service Center and Al Awir Center for Immigration Violators. Applications can also be submitted at ICP centers across other emirates.
The service centers will be operational from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily throughout the amnesty period.
Applicants are not required to pay any fees for changing their residency status or obtaining an exit permit. Furthermore, any fines previously incurred for illegal residence will be waived. The exit permit granted under this amnesty will be valid for 14 days. Should individuals fail to leave the UAE within this period, previous fines will be reinstated.
Those who utilize the amnesty to leave the UAE will not face a travel ban and will be allowed to return to the country in the future.
The amnesty program offers a vital opportunity for overstayers to rectify their immigration status or exit the UAE without additional penalties, reflecting the UAE's commitment to providing avenues for compliance with residency regulations.
