A devastating fire has gutted parts of the Ahantaman School in the Western Region. The fire, which started on Wednesday evening, destroyed a section of the girl's dormitory. No casualties were recorded, but the incident has disrupted academic activities.
The PTA chairman, Mr. Mintaba, expressed shock and sadness as he confirmed the incident.
The school has appealed to the government and philanthropists for assistance to rebuild the destroyed facility.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but authorities suspect it may have been caused by an electrical fault. The school's electrical system has been a concern for some time, with several warnings issued by the authorities.
The incident has raised concerns about fire safety in Ghana's schools. Many schools lack basic fire safety measures, and the lack of enforcement of fire safety regulations has been blamed for the frequent fire outbreaks.
