An Arab man announced at his wedding that he would give his wife a star in the sky, which would be named after her, according to local media reports.
The video has gone viral online, and in fact, the man is the victim of a new scam in Dubai.
Hassan Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, said, "Some websites and online advertisements lure people to buy stars for prices ranging from $200 to $1,000, and the victim receives a certificate of ownership about the star, but this is just a scam."
"Stars are not bought and sold, and misleading consumers with false ownership certificates is fraudulent. Because stars are named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) according to strict rules, no individual can obtain ownership."
There are even rumors online that NASA offers a similar service, but Hassan Al Hariri denied the claims.
