Recently, two suspects in Singapore's $3 billion money laundering case, Su Wenqiang and Wang Baosen, were repatriated to Cambodia. What is their current status, will be deprived of Cambodian nationality, and then repatriated to China?

Singapore's Immigration Department recently said that Su Wenqiang and Wang Baosen were repatriated to Cambodia on May 6 and were barred from entering Singapore.

Although they are Chinese, both of them also hold Cambodian nationality.

After Su Wenqiang and Wang Baosen were repatriated to Cambodia, Ministry of Interior spokesman Touch Sokheak told the media that regardless of a person's nationality, when he commits a crime abroad, he is subject to the laws of the country where he is, "which means that we have to respect the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as the laws of other friendly countries. "

In response to recent crimes involving Cambodian Chinese, Tasuk said that the Immigration Department is responsible for certifying the naturalization of Cambodian citizenship, "Granting Cambodian citizenship to a Chinese person does not guarantee that he will not commit a crime, and not only naturalized Chinese will commit crimes, but our own people will also commit crimes."

On the question of whether Su Boon Keong and Ong Boon Sen would be stripped of their Cambodian citizenship, Tasuk said the possibility of revoking citizenship would require a detailed review of each case and an in-depth study of the relevant legal requirements.

A local lawyer said that people who are repatriated to Cambodia from another country generally need to be examined under Cambodian law to see if they have violated the law before deciding whether to impose the relevant penalties. The case of money laundering in Singapore also depends on the specific circumstances.

A Chinese businessman who has been in Cambodia for many years said that although the Chinese side would like to bring the relevant personnel back to the country, but it is expected to be very difficult: "If you go back to Cambodia, it is estimated that the public relations has been good. It is estimated that people can not bring back (China), She Zhijiang in Thailand can not bring back."
