In these cases, the most common symptoms are a high fever of 39°C to 40°C, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, mild nosebleed and rash.

It is important to note that pregnant women, elderly people with health problems or young people are at risk of developing more severe symptoms.

The Dubai Emergency Response Team (DERT) has now stepped up its mosquito control efforts to avoid a rapid increase in dengue cases.

The third phase of the UAE's anti-mosquito campaign is underway and it is led by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, with the participation of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
