Cambodia Pledges to Crack Down on Human Trafficking and Online Gambling Scams
According to Cambodian media reports, on May 8th, General Neth Savoeun, Director-General of the National Police of Cambodia, met with the British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, and Rob Clark, Regional Coordinator for Organized and Serious Crime Networks. The parties discussed issues related to combating telecommunications fraud.
During the meeting, General Neth Savoeun outlined four positions of the Cambodian National Police:
1. The Cambodian government has formulated policies and taken all necessary measures to combat human trafficking through cross-border fraud.
2. Officials at all levels of the National Police are committed to implementing the Cambodian government's policies.
3. The National Police collaborates with partners by sharing information to combat cross-border fraud and human trafficking.
4. The Cambodian police view telecommunications fraud and human trafficking as high-risk criminal activities and pledge to maintain close cooperation with relevant parties to effectively and promptly prevent and combat these crimes.
Finally, General Neth Savoeun thanked the UK for its support in Cambodia's efforts to maintain national security and pledged that Cambodia will more effectively combat all forms of cross-border crime, especially telecommunications fraud.
