UAE: Rainfall in UAE|Hailstorm in Abu Dhabi; heavy rain, thunder and lightning in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and other parts of the country
In a rare turn of events, the United Arab Emirates woke up to unusual weather patterns on Monday morning, with Abu Dhabi experiencing a rare hailstorm and Dubai witnessing heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Residents across Dubai were startled from their sleep around 3:45 AM as moderate to heavy rainfall poured down, accompanied by intense thunder and lightning strikes. Similarly, several areas in Abu Dhabi, including Al Dhafrah, Al Wathba, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, and Sweihan in Al Ain, were surprised by hailstorms between 3:36 AM and 5:15 AM.
The sudden change in weather prompted the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) to issue an orange weather alert, warning residents of continued instability and the likelihood of rain clouds lingering across the UAE until 6 PM in the evening.
According to meteorological experts, convective clouds are responsible for the unusual weather phenomenon, bringing varying intensities of rainfall along with lightning, thunder, hail, and strong winds to both inland and coastal areas.
The unexpected weather conditions have left residents and authorities on alert, emphasizing the importance of staying indoors and taking necessary precautions to stay safe during such unusual weather events.
