In a proactive measure against dengue fever, the UAE health authorities have eradicated a total of 409 mosquito breeding sites.
The UAE witnessed its largest rainfall in April, submerging several residential areas and creating stagnant water pools ideal for mosquito breeding. Concerned about the spread of dengue fever, the government launched extensive mosquito eradication efforts.
Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, the Minister of Health and Prevention, addressed the issue during Wednesday's Federal National Council (FNC) meeting, highlighting various measures taken to prevent dengue fever.
Using state-of-the-art GPS technology, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) mapped out mosquito breeding sites nationwide and eliminated them systematically.
Additionally, nine specialized teams have been deployed in the Northern Emirates to support dengue fever prevention efforts across the country. Furthermore, an insect laboratory has been established to assess mosquito samples and test the effectiveness of insecticides.
These proactive measures underscore the UAE's commitment to safeguarding public health and preventing the spread of infectious diseases like dengue fever. READ ALSO : Dubai hospitals report increase in dengue cases
