In a bid to retain top talent, UAE employers are increasing employee benefits

According to a new study by Adecco, a global HR solutions company, the majority of UAE employers (around 60%) are keeping their employees' salaries and bonuses unchanged in the first half of 2024. However, they are focusing more on granting perks rather than increasing basic salaries in order to retain senior talent.

Some employers are reluctant to increase employees' basic salaries because it would increase pension costs, unlike allowances.

The survey found that in order to attract and retain top talent, nearly a quarter (24%) of UAE employers have adopted other compensation packages

Benefits such as housing bonuses, annual bonuses and a variety of other allowances have become increasingly common, and are a way to improve overall compensation packages without increasing base salaries.

Mayank Patel, Senior Vice President and Head of EEMEA, Adecco, said, "In high-demand industries such as information technology, where professionals are in short supply, companies are likely to offer more lucrative bonuses and perks to attract and retain key employees."
